Manifestation
Take a second and imagine your dream life. Your goals, aspirations, all the things you've always talked about wanting to do but never getting around to. Nothing can be too big or small. What if all those things could be yours? Well, they can be. These things don't come easy but with intention, and a little help with these manifestation tips, they can come a little bit easier.
WTF is Manifestation?
I first heard of the idea of manifestation in Joseph Murphy's "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind." This book has completely changed my perspective on how to control the thoughts of your mind to bring yourself true inner peace. It has been a crucial tool in helping me work through my anxiety in a way I never had before. Manifestation is defined by Merriam-Webster as "an event, action, or object that clearly shows or embodies something, especially a theory or an abstract idea."
Throughout his book, Murphy explains his methods in order to blend the conscious mind and subconscious mind to have them work harmoniously together. Your conscious mind is your immediate thoughts and short-term memory, these can be attributed to those everyday fleeting random thoughts you have that pop in your mind one second and out the next. Your subconscious mind is responsible for the thoughts that are embedded in your long-term memory, things like your values, or thoughts you have believed over a long period of time. Nothing is set in stone, though.
Although you may believe something for years and years, it can always be reversed. Your mind is a muscle, it can be trained. You can train your thoughts to present them to yourself in a way where you can achieve anything you believe you can do. Truly, that's the mindset we should all have off the bat. But society doesn't usually work that way, and in most cases warps most of our minds in childhood into thinking we can't succeed in everything we set out to do. The phrase "you can do anything if you put your mind to it" is true in the sense that to do anything you need to believe it for yourself that you can accomplish it. A lot of the time, we are met with resistance in our own minds in the forms of "what ifs." Murphy comes to focus on this idea for the majority of the novel and expands on it with comparison to faith and spiritual beliefs.
So how does manifestation come into play with everyday life?
Manifestation is a thought process that allows you to take an event or action and visualize it happening within your own life. It's the first step into making dreams feel more attainable and within reach.
Visual Manifestation
Visual manifestation is exactly what it sounds like, having some sort of visual in front of you to help you see the thing you are wanting to make a reality. I do this in my house in the form of one of my walls being covered in pictures of the things and people I love, the places I want to visit, the things I want to create, and the words I want to live by.
Anything that inspires me I add to the wall. This has allowed me to keep myself accountable for the things I want to do and how I want to live my life. It also doubles as a great form of expression/helps with clearing the head, I highly recommend creating a good mood board to make time pass. Written Manifestation
Manifestation in a written format was an idea I found on Instagram through @wellnesswithsoph. I was scrolling through my feed one day and stumbled upon the photo and fell in love with this idea.
At the start of each month or season, take it upon yourself to visualize what you want out of the next extended time period and jot it down on a sheet of paper. Touch on emotions, desires, foods, scents, tastes. Put it up on your fridge or bathroom mirror and see if it makes a difference adding in those words to your everyday.
p.s. it will make a difference
Manifestation won't do the work for you but it will help drive the focus within your mindset to make it happen through your actions.
“Busy your mind with the concepts of harmony, health, peace, and goodwill, and wonders will happen in your life.” - Joseph Murphy
